There are four technical divisions and three supporting divisions( Administration, Accounting, ICT ) in the Institute and each has its operational objectives that help it to work towards achieving the main mandate of the institute.

The Printing division have among its clients, government agencies, the universities, CSIR institutes, publishers, designers, printing sales representatives, as well as agencies involved in print buying and production. Since its establishment, the printing press has been responsible for printing scientific literature. The Division has graphic designers as well as print production experts who get the much- needed support from scientific editors to produce high quality scholarly books.
The division which provides library and documentation service for the CSIR and analogous institutions, learned and professional association and societies, the industrial sector, students and the general public had as its operational objectives:
The operational objective of the Science Publishing Division (SPD) is to publish two national scientific Journals of the CSIR; Ghana Journal of Agricultural Science (GJAS) and Ghana Journal of Science (GJS) The activities of the division therefore, embraced production of GJAS and GJS in particular, and servicing of Editorial Boards, as well as production of any other scientific and technological literature emanating from the CSIR or elsewhere.
The Division’s operational objective is to collect data for the design and construction of Thematic Maps on Ghana - at the national, regional and district levels and also to answer to the need of clients for special or customised maps. Additionally, it uses existing capacities to train individuals and institutions on techniques of spatial data documentation using Geographical Information Systems (GIS). The division produces and distributes resources development maps that depict in cartographic form contemporary geographical knowledge and data concerning the physical conditions, natural resources, population and other socio-economic characteristics of Ghana.
